Remembering Justin "Jewwario" Carmical

Video game growing pains here.  This is, sadly, the one year anniversary of the death of Justin "Jewwario" Carmical.  Even now, it hits me hard, every time I watch his videos...but I keep on watching them, because his energy, his kindness, and his love of gaming still shine through, bright as ever.  I did a text memorial last year, but this time, I have enough skill to create a small video memorial.  So, I want to share my memories of Justin with all of you.

Let us not forget the man in the yellow hat, who told us "You can play this!"  Let us always remember.  In that way, we can keep him alive in our hearts and our minds.  Justin has plenty of friends also honoring and remembering him, so...let me give you a few links, just in case you don't see the video on youtube.

For Justin's full body of work, please check out:

It's got all his videos and the ad revenue should go to support his widow.

History of Final Fantasy: Final Fantasy 7

Here we come to one of the most iconic games in Final Fantasy.  Final Fantasy 7 is heralded by many as the greatest game in the series and has changed the face of the RPG genre for close to two decades.  It's certainly an amazing game, but is it as good as everyone says?  What is the history surrounding the game everyone wants to remake?  Stay tuned and find out.

History of Final Fantasy: The Art of Final Fantasy

Video game growing pains is back, this time with another Final Fantasy video.  We're talking about the art of Final Fantasy, because it changed quite a bit in the jump from the 16-bit to the 3-d.  It's important that we recognize the differences in art and how they affected the franchise and the fans before moving on to talk about Final Fantasy 7.

So, let's do that.  Enjoy!

History of Final Fantasy: Final Fantasy Mystic Quest

Brand new year, same old retrospectives.  What better way to ring in 2015 than with MORE Final Fantasy?  Well, I can think of a few ways, however it's time I got back to regular releases, so I'm releasing the last of the 16-bit Final Fantasy games.  The game so hated and reviled that it took Final Fantasy 13 to unseat it.  Final Fantasy Mystic Quest?  So, is it as bad as all that?  Watch and find out.

I intend to try and release videos a bit more regularly now.  At least once a week, if not more, but this is a side project, not a job, so...yeah, bear that in mind.

Christmas Special: Christmas Nights

Apologies for being gone so long.  I had a problem with my internet which left me unable to post any new Final Fantasy videos.  However, that can wait.  For now, I want to talk Christmas.

The holiday season is especially important for me.  It, above all other times, makes me feel at peace...happy...and this is exemplified in the tradition I have every year.  You see, once a year, near Christmas, I play a video game called Christmas Nights into Dreams.  And so, I'd like to share this tradition with everyone.  Please, enjoy this discussion on Christmas Nights, my tradition, and the holiday season in general.

History of Final Fantasy: A Bravely Default Rant

So, I've started playing Bravely Default and...I feel angry.  Not with the game, the game is great, but with Square.  So, I put my anger into words and tried to explain why Bravely Default is good and why it shows how fare Square Enix and Final Fantasy have fallen.  Check it out.

History of Final Fantasy: Final Fantasy 6

So, in spite of much illness and a project to prove how video games have the potential to educate, I have continued work on this series.  Today, we are going to look at the longest video I have ever made, my favorite Final Fantasy game, and quite possibly, the best game in the series.  It's not perfect, and I will discuss the many problems it faces, but it captured a kind of magic from both the series and the 16-bit generation that has never since been replicated.  And with this, we end the golden age of RPGs, even though I will still talk about a game that was in the golden age next time, which was not terribly good.

Anyway, without further ado, Final Fantasy 6, ladies and gentleman.
